EDF Energy partners with Brightwave to launch Financial Processes e-learning

Meeting training challenges through a complete solution

Brightwave, the workplace communication, learning and performance specialist has been selected by EDF Energy, one of the UK’s largest energy companies, to design and implement a series of e-learning modules to help employees follow the company's financial processes.

The modules, now live and available to EDF Energy employees, are hosted on Brightwave's own, in-house developed 'Launch and Track' learning management system. Customised by Brightwave, the LMS meets EDF Energy's specific needs and is the first for the energy supplier, commissioned by the company to help them meet their development and training challenges.

The Financial Processes modules have been specifically designed to reduce errors and speed financial reconciliation and payment, saving the company money previously lost due to the errors in the completion, approval and monitoring of financial processes. As a follow up to the initial programme, EDF Energy is looking to expand their e-learning capability to support increasing demands for an alternative training delivery medium to traditional, resource intensive classroom based learning.

"As one of the largest energy companies in the UK, and as an employer of over 12,000 people, we understand the importance of strategic and focused staff training and development." said Craig Tonge, Organisation development Advisor at EDF Energy. "Implementing these modules as part of the company's financial management programme, means we can both introduce e-learning and the new Learning Management System to a wide employee base and become familiar with this training approach before more product specific e-learning is added, and ensure that a consistent message is given to everyone in the most time effective manner. With Brightwave's Launch & Track platform, we can also monitor the effectiveness of the training and evaluate our courses to ensure we provide the continuing staff development our customers expect of us."

This first implementation is helping to address some of the key challenges identified by the development and training team. The e-learning has relieved some of the classic constraints of time and resource, as what was classroom-based content is now delivered in less time and in a more focused manner online.

"We are pleased to have been selected by EDF Energy to design and deliver both their initial e-learning content and an e-learning management solution as they embark on a new blended learning strategy. Implementing change can be a challenge in any organisation, however we look forward to supporting them as they meet their development and training challenges for the coming years and move away from the constraints of classroom-based training." explains Charles Gould, Managing Director at Brightwave. "We are confident that with our experience and expertise, we can convey our energy, ideas and enthusiasm to help EDF Energy as they focus on meeting their training challenges."
